Perhaps this will explain the actions of the local school boards, in particular, St. Tammany Parish School Board, when it comes to local control of curriculum, content and methodology (Act 532):
On February 13, 2014, with a motion by Mrs. Mullet that was seconded by Mrs., Bellisario, the St. Tammany Parish School Board unanimously passed a resolution which stated that the members support the 2014 Legislative Framework of the Louisiana School Boards Association (LSBA).

In the LSBA Legislative Framework, we find that they support “a strategic and cohesive state curriculum framework (grade level by grade level, unit by unit, with sample activities, and properly vetted resources for teachers.)”

So, regardless of the fact that they now have the power to adopt their own curriculum, they have agreed to support a state curriculum. Please contact your school board members and tell them their duty is to the citizens of St. Tammany Parish and NOT to lobbying organizations, such as the LSBA…
