During a presentation to the Lafourche Parish Council on July 28, 2020, LA State Rep. Bryan Fontenot mentioned a "nonpartisan survey" regarding the state's response to COVID-19. It appears that this survey is being used to convince our state representatives that the majority of Louisiana's citizens are happy with the guvnah's orders, including the mask mandate. So, have Louisiana's other elected representatives been absent on this issue while also attempting to hide behind this same, lame survey???
Although, Rep Fontenot admits that less than 4,000 of Louisiana's over 4 million citizens were polled, he fails to mention any other information regarding the respondents, like whether or not they are business owners or to what age group they belong. Rep. Fontenot refers to the survey as representative of the opinion of ALL Louisiana's citizens as can be seen in the video below:
That statement could not be further from the truth! There is no fine line, because what is constitutional IS what is correct, especially given the job of an elected representative.
Rep. Fontenot, your job is to protect the God-given rights of the citizens of this state. You state correctly that your job is to represent all of the citizens in your district; however, your actions show that you are only willing to represent the majority of the respondents to a survey who stated that they are happy with the governors shut down and mask mandate. That is not your job! Your job is NOT to protect tyranny by the majority or tyranny in any form, for that matter.
Your job is to stand up to tyranny and protect the rights of the minority even if the majority disagrees! We are shocked by your statements and actions to the contrary; and, we reject them!
Much like our guvnah's "clothes," our legislators should know that their attempt to "hide in plain sight" is a dismal & damaging failure.
